Blog #2

In this image I used the dodge tool again to try and make the edges sharper. Then I went to filter, render, lighting effects and I made the light shine down from the top. Then I went to hue/saturation and I made it more of a red shadow to give the true "Devil's eye".
In this image I created a new layer and I used the paintbrush tool to color in between the iris and the pupil. I used a yellowish color.
In this image I used the burn tool around the colored part of the eye and then around the whole eye. It was hard to get the perfect effect because my image was not as clear an sharp as I would have liked it to be.

The Big Idea

Big ideas can represent many different things. One big idea is the idea of emotions. There are multiple different ways to look at and think about emotions. An emotion could be happy or sad. An example of someone who is happy could be someone smiling or laughing. An example of someone who is sad could be someone frowning or crying. Based on different experiences we can feel different emotions. People often deal with emotions in different ways. Sometimes gender affects your emotions. Often times when males are feeling sad they might not show it as much as a female would. Emotions could also be anger, depression, excitement, concern, compassion, envy, fear, guilt, love, suprise, worry, anxiety, curious. When I think of someone who is angry, I think of someone fighting or screaming.

Digital technology has changed traditional painting and drawing techniques into new forms of art by using computers and digital photography. One artist that uses the computer as an important part of their work is David Rokeby. He is an installation artist which means he uses new media such as video, sound, and the internet. One of his works is the Very Nervous System. It uses a sound system, computers and cameras to create an enviroment in which the movements of one's body create sound and/or music. It's kind of like an instrument that you play with your body. Another one of Rokeby's works is Echoing Narcissus. It is an interactive sound-sculpture that is covered in copper sheet and printed circuit boards. There is a big hole in the middle of the sculpture. It is a re-telling of the myth Narcissus and Echo. All sounds made by the sound-sculpture are distorted and also the image of the observer is restructured. This work is described like a black hole of communication in which the observer loses himself or herself in the countless restructurings of voice and image.
